Lewis Men's Cross Country Captures League Best, 17th GLVC Title

The Â鶹´«Ã½ men's cross country team recorded its 17th Great Lakes Valley Conference men's cross country title, extending the league-best mark at the UIS Cross Country Course Saturday (Oct. 26).  (Loves Park, Ill./Belvidere North) also became the men's cross country champion after a record-setting time in the 8k, crossing the finish line at 23:23.64, which won him the GLVC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year Award.

Lewis Men's Cross Country Head Coach  was also awarded GLVC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. The Flyers also had four runners who finished in the top 10 and eight achieve all-conference. 

Lewis had eight runners receive All-GLVC honors after placing in the top 20, led by Horgan's first-place finish.   (Independence, KY/Saint Henry) was the next finisher for Lewis, crossing the finish line in fifth place with a time of 24:12.

 (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) was right behind Ryan, recording a sixth-place finish with a time of 24:15.  (Flint Hill, Va./VMI) rounded out the top for the Flyers with his ninth-place placing and had a time of 24:40. 

 (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) finished in 13th place for Lewis, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:47. Fellow teammate  (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) was right behind him in 14th place after recording a time of 24:48. 

 (Merrilville, Ind./Merrilville) placed 17th for the Flyers with a time of 24:50.11, while  (Westmont, IL/Math and Science Academy) was right behind Dunn to round out the all-conference members for Lewis in 18th place at the time of 24:50.68.

Lewis will be back in action Saturday, November 9 for the NCAA DII Men's Cross Country Midwest Regionals hosted at Â鶹´«Ã½. The men's race will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
